For this project I went with a “scribbled illustration” look which turned out to be a big hit with the client. Every illustration and icon on the website was done on my Wacom tablet.
The site is powered by Wordpress with a completely custom theme.

Some dear friends of mine are getting hitched this summer and they asked me if I’d work up some wedding invitations for them.
At first I went with a very simple, modern look. For typography I used a mix of Museo and Gotham. I was so happy with this version, but they wanted something a little more traditional so this design was sidelined.

Here’s the final attempt, printed and ready to be mailed:

I’m really happy with the results and can’t wait to be part of their big day!
Congrats, you guys!

In Defense of Eye Candy is one of my favorite articles from A List Apart. I tend to read it once every few months as motivation to keep making things that look good and are easy to use.
There are plenty of web developers who tend to lean towards “function over form” and I can agree in some cases…but, as the article mentions, form is just as important a concept in the world of usability.

Microsoft is finally starting to see the light regarding IE6.
After supporting it for about three years longer than they should’ve, Microsoft has created a site called IE6 Countdown which shows the surprising number of people still using this wretched browser.
For those of you who don’t know what a browser is Google has made this very simple and great video giving a brief overview of the concept.

A designer’s portfolio website is absolutely essential in attracting new clients. There’s no better place to showcase your skills, past work, and technique for potential customers to peruse prior to making a commitment. Showcasing your work needs to be a professional, clean, and simple process that is wrapped in the perfect design itself. I’ve gathered 25 great web and graphic designer portfolio websites. These represent some of the best design portfolio sites on the web. Take a glance and let me know your favorites. (And sorry for the self promotion but I’ve started this list with my very own portfolio site).
